Our Journey

TEJAS JAN VIKAS SANSTHA

From Community Needs to Sustainable Change

Tejas Jan Vikas Sanstha, Jalna has been working at the grassroots level with a commitment to improving the quality of life of vulnerable and underserved communities. The organisation’s journey has been shaped by a simple belief — sustainable development begins when communities are given the opportunity, resources and confidence to build better lives for themselves.

Over the years, Tejas Jan Vikas Sanstha has focused on addressing practical challenges faced by rural and economically vulnerable communities. Its work has evolved around key areas including women’s empowerment, livelihood promotion, agriculture, water, health, education, basic amenities and community development.

Understanding the Community

  1. Our journey begins with listening to communities and understanding their real needs.
  2. In rural areas, limited access to resources, livelihood opportunities, skills, healthcare and basic amenities often creates barriers to social and economic development. Tejas Jan Vikas Sanstha works to identify these gaps and develop community-oriented interventions that can create meaningful and sustainable outcomes.
  3. The organisation believes that development should not merely provide temporary assistance. It should create capabilities, opportunities and sustainable sources of income.
  4. Empowering Women Through Livelihoods
  5. Women’s empowerment has emerged as one of the important pillars of our work.
  6. Recognising the economic vulnerability faced by widowed, deserted and disadvantaged women, Tejas Jan Vikas Sanstha established initiatives focused on skill development, entrepreneurship and livelihood generation.
  7. Through the Women Entrepreneurship Training Centre at Rajur Ganpati, Bhokardan, Jalna, women are provided opportunities to learn skills such as tailoring, beauty services, home-based enterprises, spice and flour production, Aari work, handicrafts, macramé, goat rearing and poultry farming.

Our approach goes beyond training:

Training → Tools → Enterprise → Income → Self-Reliance

The objective is to help women transform their skills into sustainable livelihood opportunities and enable them to contribute to the economic security of their families.

Creating Access to Essential Resources

Alongside livelihood initiatives, the organisation has worked towards improving access to essential resources and basic amenities in rural communities. Initiatives such as solar-powered lighting solutions and water filtration and RO systems aim to address everyday challenges while promoting environmental sustainability and improving community well-being.

These interventions reflect our belief that even a basic facility — access to clean drinking water, reliable lighting or essential resources — can make a significant difference in people's daily lives.

Building Sustainable Communities

Our work is guided by the principle that development must be inclusive, participatory and sustainable. We seek to work closely with communities, understand local priorities and develop solutions that are relevant to their social and economic conditions. Our interventions therefore focus not only on immediate needs but also on creating long-term capacity within communities.

Our Evolving Journey

As community needs have evolved, so has our approach. From addressing basic community needs, our work has increasingly moved towards capacity building, livelihood generation, women-led entrepreneurship and sustainable development. We are continuously exploring opportunities to strengthen partnerships with CSR organisations, corporates, government institutions, philanthropic organisations and community stakeholders to expand the reach and impact of grassroots development initiatives.

Looking Ahead

The journey of Tejas Jan Vikas Sanstha is an ongoing one.

Our vision for the coming years is to reach more vulnerable families, strengthen rural livelihoods, empower more women, improve access to essential resources and develop scalable community-based solutions.

We aspire to build partnerships that can transform community needs into sustainable development opportunities.
